Notes from Meeting 2 of Spring 2022 (May 5, 9:30am -10:30am)

In the Spring of 2020, the pandemic forced a shift from face-to-face learning to remote learning for over four thousand US colleges and over 25 million students enrolled in those colleges (Entangled Solutions, 2020) and about 1.3 billion students worldwide (McCarthy, 2020). From the very start, a group of KCC faculty members and administrators from various disciplines, designed surveys, collected data, and analyzed such data to understand the students’ experiences and help find ways to help students going forward. This presentation provides a summary of the data collected from about 4,000 student respondents from four surveys delivered during Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Fall 2021. The purpose of the surveys was, and continues to be, about capturing students’ challenges and turning that data into actionable information beneficial to faculty and higher education institutions related to future course design and teaching modality offerings. In addition to the interpretation of aggregate data, future analyses might also utilize respondents’ demographic information to identify any equity gaps.

Notes from Meeting 1 of Spring 2022 (April 28, 9:30am -10:30am)

During this meeting, we discussed some preliminary data of Student Survey delivered during December 2021 and have a better understanding of students’ experience and challenges with remote learning during Fall 2021. Comments were made in and sent out for the two surveys (attached).
